Evaluation of the Better Outcomes in Mental Health and More Allied Health Services Initiatives (Limestone Coast Division of General Practice, 2005)
BOiMH supports GPs’ care of Australians with mental health disorders through GP education, training and access to the 3-step mental health process incentive payment, appropriate allied health services and psychiatrist support. MAHS aims to improve the health of people living in rural areas through allied health care and local linkages between allied health care and general practice. This evaluation interviewed 9 GPs, allied health staff, LCDGP and South Australian Divisions of General Practice staff, and staff of South East Community Health services and the SA Health Department. The Limestone Coast Division of General Practice has contributed to a very significant new mental health service in the region, and every support for the Division to expand this role should be encouraged.
